Our Ministry

We will show by example how to live a Christian life and how to encourage new followers.

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”  — Jesus

A Word About Our Name

The church was incorporated as The First Baptist Church of North Abington in 1886. As the years went on since and the communities of North Abington and Abington became less distinct, the common reference of the church omitted the ‘North’. So that today we are known best as the First Baptist Church of Abington.

Looking For The Perfect Church?

We're not it!

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." - John 14:6

That's because the church is comprised of people. It is not just a building, but the community of people who attend. The Bible teaches us that no one is perfect except God. If you're not perfect either we would love to have you join with us in worship. Together we will learn how to be transformed [by God] through the renewing our minds. We believe that God is in the business of mending broken lives and restoring them to serve Him and to serve other people.

Who Are We?

First Baptist Church is people helping people find the Truth.

We are people who love to help others find the Truth. We love to tell people about the One who can forgive us and create a clean heart in us. We will partner with your family to teach Biblical truths to each member of your family. Through the ministries of the church we help families experience the love God has placed in our hearts. Through local and foreign missions we help spread the good news of the Gospel of Christ.

Worship Services

During the school year (September to June) the morning worship service begins at 10:15 AM. In the summer months it starts at 10:00 AM. During the service we have a children's sermon for the younger children ages four through second grade. Following that parents may choose to allow them to attend our children's church (a.k.a. junior church) program for the remainder of the worship service.

There Is No Dress Code

The common dress of our church attenders matches well the variety reflected in our communities. One suggestion is to wear what you might to school or the office or other workplace. You will be welcome regardless.
