Operation Christmas Child

What is Operation Christmas Child?

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. This program of Samaritan’s Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved in a simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in their own language. In 2010, Operation Christmas Child collected over 8.2 million shoe box gifts worldwide and distributed them to children in some 108 countries.

Samaritan's Purse

Operation Christmas Child is part of the Samaritan's Purse organization. You can find out more about this organization on their website.  Samaritan's Purse is much more than Operation Christmas Child. It serves throughout the year and can be found wherever there are major disasters ready to help meet people's basic needs.

Packing Your Shoe Box

Want to make a needy child's day? Pack your own shoe box. Click on the image to find out how you can make a difference. You will be glad you did. We will take care of the shipping for you. If you can a contribution of $7 per shoe box will help with the shipping expenses. There are suggested items and some items that cannot be accepted. For a list of these please check the website by clicking on the teddy bear. Thanks for helping.

Wrap your shoe boxes if you wish, but box and lid must be wrapped separately. This is important because at the Samaritan Purse Operation Christmas Child national processing center in North Carolina all boxes are opened and the contents are examined for child safety. Plastic boxes may be used but should not exceed the size of a cardboard shoe box. Oversized boxes increase the shipping costs.

Please use the boy/girl labels provided in the brochures or a photocopy of one. These should be taped on the outside of the shoe box.

Please put money envelopes inside one of the shoe boxes.

Checks are preferable to cash or you may donate online and follow your box. Attach the label provided in the online process to your box.

Please place a rubber band around your shoe box to secure the lid.

The children love receiving notes and pictures. If you include your name and address, the child may write you back.

If you have a large number of boxes (over 100), it would be helpful to call (781-878-2447) ahead and let us know what day to expect you. Please be prepared to give us your group / church name and address. A contact name and phone number, and an approximate number of shoeboxes you are dropping off.

Your cooperation in all of the above will be most helpful to the relay center here, and the collection centers, and all who handle the shoe boxes. May God bless you for sharing with the children!

Volunteers Are Needed to Pack Shoe Boxes Collected Into Shipping Cartons

During our collection times at this Relay Center we package the boxes churches, school groups, and individuals have dropped off into the larger shipping cartons. If you can help call the church at (781) 878-2447 or come by and sign up. High schoolers please note that this is a qualified community service project
