Chaperones

We could use adult help in transporting youth and or equipment. We need adult help for guidance and watchcare of our youth. If you are a parent or a responsible person age 21 years or older you may be eligible to apply. We perform a background check on all volunteers and comply with Massachusetts State regulations in performing CORI checks.

The church needs about ten days to process the paperwork. You can begin the process here.

What is WWFD???

WWFD is Wild Wednesday Fun Days. WWFD is a series of summertime events for youth in grades 4 through 12. Some events may be open to entire families. Some events have a cost involved but most are free. All events require a parental permission form and a medical authorization form to be completed.

Canobie Lake

We spend one Wednesday at Canobie Lake Park in New Hampshire. This is an annual favorite event for our youth.

Sailing

Captain Al Donaghy took a group of us sailing. This was an excellent experience and we appreciated the time Al gave to us.

Photo on day we went sailing on Mount Hope Bay in southeastern Massachusetts.

Another time we went on a two hour sailing excursion on the tall ship Brigantine Formidablein Boston Harbor.

Canoeing

The North River canoe trip was a challenge. The day was a bit breezy and the timing of our trip on this tidal river was about 30 minutes off. This meant that we had to work against the tide part of the time of the way back. The day was hot and the swimming was refreshing when we pulled onto the shore halfway through our trip.

The day we set out on the Taunton River was the hottest of the summer (104° F). The river is wide in most places with just a few tiny rapids. Starting in Middleboro we pulled out near the Taunton and Raynham town line. Only one group managed to overturn their canoe. Thankfully it was in about two and a half feet of water one of the shallowest parts of the river.

Hiking

The hike to the Blue Hills Observatory was not too strenuous for most. It was a coolish day and a little overcast. Disappointing when we reached the top as the view was limited because of the low clouds and humidity. The tour of the Weather Observatory was fascinating.

The Beach

College Pond in Myles Standish State Park in Plymouth was just perfect. The day was in the mid eighties (°F) and clear. Sunscreen was the order of the day. Playing “keep away” with a ball and frisbee in the water was what kept most in the water. Soaking up the sun on the beach wasn't bad either.

Nantasket Beach in Hull was another great day. Body surfing on the waves and walking the beach and looking for shells were activities enjoyed by all. Not to mention stretching out in the sun and checking out the arcade and food purveyors across the street.
